Know your worth

What do you see when you look in the mirror every morning? What do others see when they look at you? These are the top 2 questions that I have been focusing on in recent times. The first one is a representation of how I look at myself and feel. Not only physical appearance but even personality, character and spirituality. The second question is how I present myself to people, either familiar or strangers who I just met. All these dynamics shape how we interact with ourselves and with others. Yes, interacting with yourself is actually a thing.  I often read about people who talk to themselves or have journals in which they write things that happen to them during the day and I used to find it quite strange until I realised I literally do the same thing through this blog. So back to those 2 questions...how often do you just look in the mirror and admire God's magnificent craftsmanship?  When you start looking at yourself as God's perfect creation then things will change fo...

Turn over a new leaf

A lot of times people face a dilemma in their lives where they are stuck in a certain situation or lifestyle in which they want to get out but don’t know how to. Situations where we feel like living a certain way or doing certain things is the only choice we have. This sort of scenario can be seen mostly with addicts. Whatever it is that you are addicted to can become your own self made prison if you make it. I used to know a guy whose vice was a certain drug and he got so hooked that he felt like he couldn’t do anything unless he took the drug first. The honest truth is, he actually couldn’t because his own mind had become his worst enemy as it was so addicted to that “ higher “ feeling. He wanted to turn his life around and become clean but he didn’t know how to plus he wasn’t sure if God would forgive him. ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:27 says “ Therefore if any man be in Christ he is a new creation. All things have passed away and a new life has begun” This is a very powerful verse be...

See the unseeable

As the year begins, we hear a lot of people talking about new year resolutions, goals, places to visit, people to meet, money to make and jobs to get. January is marked as the month in which people layout the plans for the coming year and how they are going to execute them. It is also the time when the people who make diaries make the most money because everyone wants to plan their year.  The planning aspect comes from the fact that everyone understands the importance of having a plan when it comes to executing your goals. You can't just say I want a $1000 in savings without having a concrete plan on how exactly you are going to do it. You need to be able to break down the goal into smaller more manageable pieces and take it from there. Though all these aspects that go into planning for the new year matter, the most important is often overlooked. The promises that came to Abraham especially the one where he would be heir of the world came through his faith in God. Abraham was able ...

Confidence is key

Image
I remember the first time I was on stage and it was in primary school. So we had this tradition whereby every Friday, a class would perform a play they had been practicing for  the previous week. I had cleverly avoided taking part in any of these until one day when the head of the school personally selected the participants and I was among the crew. So the very reason why I had been avoiding taking part is because I was terrified of being in front of the whole school with al those eyes on me.  What will people think? What if I mess up? What if people don't like our play? What if I forget my lines? All these questions were running through my mind minutes before we went on stage and I was terrified. The funny thing is the moment I went on stage and said the first line from my script, everything just melted away. All the fear and nervousness just subsided to the joy of the moment and that is when I realized the power of confidence. Confidence means that you are sure of yourself a...

Live in abundance

Image
According to the Cambridge English Dictionary, the word abundance can be used to describe a considerably large amount of something. This is an amount that is more than enough. To some abundance can be financial, emotional, mental and spiritual. Safe to say everyone wants to have an area of their lives that is filled with abundance. Abundance more often than not means comfort for example if your monthly bills are $5000 and your monthly income is $8000 then you are living in financial abundance where you have more than enough. The question I had is can only live in abundance if the physical evidence shows that they are living in abundance ? A friend of mine once told me how important one's perspective of the world is. Some see the world as a cold barren place where opportunities are few and finances are even fewer whereas some see the world as an infinite sea of opportunities with more than enough money to go round the world. The first batch of people no matter their positions in li...
