Definiteness of purpose

Image
Purpose can be defined as  the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists or  a person's sense of resolve or determination. In other words everything that was created was created to serve a certain purpose . So basically each and everyone of us was born to fulfill a certain purpose however in our journey we often face a lot of challenges. A very controversial book by Napoleon Hill (Outwitting The Devil) talks about a concept in which the devil uses to control over 98% of the world's population. He called this technique of control " Drifting ". From the book a drifter is defined as one who   permits himself/herself to be influenced and controlled by circumstances outside of his own mind. A drifter is one who accepts whatever life throws in his way without making a protest or putting up a fight. He doesn't know what he wants from life and spends all of his time getting just that. Does this sound familiar?? Do you often feel as if yo...

Take one step at a time

"The saddest thing in life is wasted talent and the choices you make will shape your life forever" ~ Chazz Palminteri. However small a decision seems we need to know that it will in one way or the other shape how we our life goes. Not taking action is a decision on its own as well and at times this may have a lot of negative effects on our lives. For example if you find yourself in a situation with which you are not pleased with you need to take action and get yourself out of that situation. Ideas die when one continuously procrastinates to the point where everything they had planned in their mind just fades away. This week i have combined a list of things that one can do in order to ensure that you get things done effectively : Don't wait I recently learn about the 2% rule which simply states that for every idea we have we should immediately take action and do something to get the ball rolling. When one gets an idea they tend to overthink it and continue postponing u...

Joy and Happiness

“Baby steps count, as long as you are going forward. You add them all up, and one day you look back and you’ll be surprised.” Chris Gardner. A few minutes ago I just finished watching one of my favorite movies of all time and it still gets me as much as it did the first time. For me "The pursuit of happyness" which stars Will Smith and his kid is truly one of the most inspirational works of art I have ever seen. It raises a lot of questions on the " HAPPINESS " issue. What does it truly mean to be happy ? The question has a variety of answers which may include : Being surrounded by the ones you love Being wealthy Finding true love Getting your dream job Travelling the world e.t.c All these answers are true to a certain extent though the question that arises from them is: So is it impossible to be truly happy if you don't have all these things ? Heath Ledger was once quoted to have said  "Everyone you meet always asks if you have a career, are married, or o...

You are what you think

Image
"If your are not thinking correctly you are not living correctly"~Howard.C.Hendricks. John Maxwell once described how if he could just sit down with someone and if they were to ask him advice on how to be successful he said he would simply teach them how to think correctly . The term thinking correctly implies that there is also a wrong way of thinking. In my opinion this type of thinking has nothing to do with how smart you are or how good your memory is but it is simply how you view yourself and how you view the world. It is the thinking of a person or rather their attitude that determines how they come out of a situation. If you see it as a problem then surely it will haunt you as a problem but if you look at it as an opportunity to grow the you will come out victorious and at a higher level in your life. A majority of people all across the globe have been in lock down for at least a month now. For most this may be  depressing time filled with anxiety and uncertainty with...

Opportunity is knocking

Image
" Victory comes from finding opportunities in problems . " ~ Sun Tzu. A friend of mine referred me to the Harvard Business Review website because it put out some really nice content and I enjoy reading and researching about different things. I then somehow stumbled across an article written by Nancy Koehn titled Real Leaders Are Forged in Crisis ( find the link below). She talks about a lot of famous people and how they overcame adversities through the way the viewed everything . This then told me that crisis is only a matter of perspective and until we shift our mindset from looking at the negative impact of a crisis to actually seeing it as an opportunity to better certain things then the crisis will only get worse in our minds. These are very trying times mentally, physically and for those directly affected by the pandemic emotionally and health wise as well. I chose to view this time as an opportunity to actually get to know myself better, know my family better, ...
