Definiteness of purpose

Purpose can be defined as the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists or a person's sense of resolve or determination. In other words everything that was created was created to serve a certain purpose. So basically each and everyone of us was born to fulfill a certain purpose however in our journey we often face a lot of challenges. A very controversial book by Napoleon Hill (Outwitting The Devil) talks about a concept in which the devil uses to control over 98% of the world's population. He called this technique of control "Drifting". From the book a drifter is defined as one who permits himself/herself to be influenced and controlled by circumstances outside of his own mind. A drifter is one who accepts whatever life throws in his way without making a protest or putting up a fight. He doesn't know what he wants from life and spends all of his time getting just that. Does this sound familiar?? Do you often feel as if you are not in any control over your life and your are just there for the ride?? If you answered yes to these questions then perhaps your would need to sit down and re-think a lot of things and ensure that you get back on track. Here are a few things you should look out for and make sure you are not slowly becoming a drifter :

1. Your behavior is mostly driven by your fears.
2. Unless forced or ordered by an outside party, you lack enthusiasm and drive to undertake something.
3. You begin many things but you never complete any.
4. You lack a major sense of purpose in life.
5. You make same mistakes over and over again.

"There is one quality which one must possess to win, and that is definiteness of purpose, the knowledge of what one wants, and a burning desire to possess it " ~ Napoleon Hill. Drifting is a habit that can be broken by one thing and one thing only which is Definiteness of purpose

In my view definiteness of purpose is a burning desire within you that drives each and everyone of us to reach our life goals. In other words it means we need to have a clear understanding of what we want and it must be a burning desire and passion for us.  When you have a definiteness of purpose you will not be distracted by anything that takes you away from pursuing this purpose not even the factors that surround your very existence. Drifting therefore can be defined as the lack of  a definiteness of purpose. To break the habit of drifting  you need to do the following :
  • You need to think for yourself at all occasions. Human beings weren't given power over the environment or anything else save for our minds. So it is essential that we take control of our minds and think for ourselves.
  • Decide definitely what you want from life; then create a plan for attaining it and be willing to sacrifice everything else, if necessary, rather than accept permanent defeat.
  • Do  not dwell to much on defeat, rather analyze it and find other ways to get what you want.
  • Be willing to be of service to everyone you come into contact with by adding value into people's live. Human beings pay for value so if you need to become a person of value.
  • Continuously tell yourself that time is the greatest asset you can ever have and make sure that not a second of your time is wasted.
  • Manage your thoughts because they always attract things into your life so always have positive thoughts.
  • When you pray you need to realize that you are asking your father and this means that you don't have to beg, pray with purpose and believe that what you asked for will come to pass
There is no sweeter life than one where you are sure of what you want and going after it with everything you have. "But as many a received him, to them gave he the power to become the sons of God" ~ John 1 vs 12. We need to know that we are the sons of God and believe it and start living likewise. Have a blessed week and Thank God its Monday.
