Assume whoever you are listening to knows something you don't
As a child, humility is one of the greatest things you can teach them because it is at this early stage were a child's level of humility will determine how much they learn in class...but why is that so ? I think it is because humility is that inner voice that is telling you that what you don't know is more important than what you know.
People are very defensive when it comes to what they know even though what they know is not enough and their lives not being exactly were they want it to be is just a clear indication of that. So here is a funny idea, every time someone indicates your ignorance to you rejoice and be glad because :
a) You actually know something you didn't know before
b) You will not continue doing the wrong thing anymore.
The trick for me is to make sure that you listen more than you speak because if you truly listen to people they will tell you exactly what is wrong and what you can do to fix it. All these little pieces of advice can become your little tools that you put in your bag which will help you grow and become a better person who will now position themselves a bit better in the world.
The humility aspect here is do you want to be right or do you want to be learning. This very statement would then imply that a good conversation which is a by product of humility is very transformative. We all have "deep meaningful conversations" once in a while and the meaningful part comes from the fact that you were actually listening and you walked away with something from the conversation.
Just try and learn a new thing everyday even if it is from a kindergarten pupil because trust me a day will come when you are straightened out by an 8 year old. Be ready to learn and listen attentively to those around you but be careful what you take in. Have a blessed week and Thank God its Monday
Much appreciated
