The horse is made ready for the day of battle
"The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD" ~ King Solomon(Proverbs 21 vs 31).This is a verse I got from my little brother during one of our family devotions and it really got me thinking. In ancient times the horse was considered one of the finest beasts man could ever own and use for his/her personal use. Before it was used for agricultural purposes it was mostly used for transportation and for war as the soldiers would ride atop of it into battle. The horses were readied for battle a day or 2 prior to battle so that when the day arrives they are in perfect shape and would prove to be an advantage to their owners. King Solomon however knew something that a majority of people didn't know, that we may have the finest horses but victory rests or lies with the Lord. This to me means that before there is even a victory the horses need to be made ready for the battle and this allows the victory to rest with the Lord because we would have done our part.
It brings out a very important factor which is planning. Planning is the process of thinking about the activities required to achieve a desired goal. It is the first and foremost activity to achieve desired results. Without a plan attaining or reaching your goals will prove to be a very difficult and confusing journey because half the time you won't know what you are doing. Before you even set about achieving your goal you need a solid plan which will guide :
- What is to be done.
This basically entails the steps that you are going to take in order to reach the final goal. These are to be clearly outlined and followed to the letter. - When it is to be done.
Timing and consistency is everything. Gaining and keeping momentum is very important and keeps you on track. You need to hold yourself accountable to doing the right things at the right time. - How it is to be done.
This may change from time to time because the only thing that is unstoppable is change. However having a clear vision of how you want things done is still important
Now that you have readied your horse for battle the rest which is your victory lies solely with the Lord. As you set about executing your plan keep in mind that and have the faith that your plan will work and if there are any hiccups you continue refining it and leaving it all to God. Have a blessed week, stay safe and Thank God its Monday
One never knows the day opportunity comes but the part they can play is to be ready for it when it does come. I liked how you looked at that verse. Many times we leave it all in God's hands and forget that we are not necessarily exempted from playing our part. Opportunity comes our way but because we never prepare ourselves for it, we always miss it. And guess what, we blame God for these missed opportunities.
