Consistency is key

I believe that if you are persistent you will get what you want and if you are consistent you will keep it. The level of discipline and sacrifice required for one to he consistent is immense. I always marvel at how it feels like yesterday when I posted my first article which was in defiance of my fearful mind trying to talk me out of it. Now it has been almost a year... well 50 weeks to be specific and I m not going to lie and say it was easy. The consistency has always been key and it truly has gotten me here. Tony Robbins once said “Its not what we do occasionally that shapes our lives...it is what we do consistently”. So in other words if you have a life that you want to live you need to consistently put in the effort to make it happen. Since childhood I have always seen the good in people and I have always felt the urge to help people become the best version of themselves. That 1 statement has been directly responsible for the past 50 weeks and it has helped me a lot.

My question to you is why are you doing what you are doing and what drives you ?

Once you have an answer to that question then we can now start thinking about how best we can consistently put in the work to make ourselves better and achieve the goal. Here are a few pointers I use which helped me  become consistent in every habit I choose to adopt which is in line with my goals.

  • Have a clear goal
We often find difficulty in being consistent with our efforts mostly because of the fact that we are unclear of what we are supposed to be doing and when we are supposed to be doing it. Some would find writing down the goal to be very useful since it serves as a daily reminder of what it is that you want to achieve. Personally I come up with a 90 day goal which is then split up into weekly goals and daily tasks. This helps me keep track of my progress and ensures I stay on course.
  • Take breaks
It is very normal to get excited when you are doing something you love. It is also very easy to get fatigued and burnt out before you achieve that goal. I read about a 90/20 rule earlier this week which i found to be very interesting. It is quite simple... for every 90 minutes of work you rest for 20 minutes. This refreshes your mind and keeps your mind sharp.

  • Celebrate successes
It is human nature to always expect a reward for work done hence the legal obligation to pay workers for work done. You are your own boss and employee so it would be very helpful to reward yourself after you complete a task. This can either be daily, weekly, monthly or even yearly depending on what it is you are doing. Tell yourself that you will buy your favorite food once you complete a task and you will see that you will get things done.
Consistency is key in everything be it relationships, work, religion or anything else. Try by all means to stay as consistent as you can and lets get things done. Have a blessed week and Thank God its Monday
