Hard work betrays none

"Perseverance is the hard work you do after getting tired of the hard work you already did" ~ Newt Gingrich. I feel like this week's blog is a note to myself because I can connect with it at a very high level. There are times where it felt like I was working really really hard in everything but nothing was coming from it, then a few months or at times a few years later i see the results of all the effort I had been putting in. My very first web design client came saw a flyer that i had designed a year and a half back for a friend from church. I had done that and many other works for free so he got my number and asked how much i charged for graphic and web designing of which at that time i had been doing free works so i had no idea how to charge so I just told him we will discuss after the job. Surprisingly he was so impressed with what I had done that he paid me more than I had even imagined. That is when it actually dawned that all the free work I had been doing was now finally paying off. I believe this can be one of thousands of testimonies on how hard work truly pays off. Here are a few pointers I have picked up from my understanding on hard work :

• Don't do it for the money
  You need to always love what you are doing. If you wake up and you are not excited about the day simply because you are going to spend it doing something you don't love then it is going to be really hard for you. I look forward to Mondays because I love helping people and I love writing. Every single day I always make sure I do something I love even it is for free. It is actually better when its for free because then i know I am using my creativity without limits. Always do what you love and don't do it for the money.
• Go against the tide
  One of my favorite business people of all time is President Donald Trump. Many may say he is a person of questionable character but I admire his work ethic and bravery. What I learnt is that he believes in himself so much and he never goes with the people and he always does what feels right to him. I feel like happiness comes when you have peace of mind and that comes from doing what feels right to you. In most cases this could mean going against popular opinion and it is completely fine to go against the tide.
• Help others
  For all the blessings and opportunities you receive, it is always good to give back and help. Maybe in the form of mentorship or simply just taking time to give advice or just talk to someone and encourage them to never give up. This is a very crucial part in the hard work club because it is not easy to always encourage people and give them advice even when you don't feel so positive yourself.
