Locked in a room for improvement
Today marks the beginning of a 21 day nation-wide lockdown which resulted from a global pandemic threatening to wipe out a lot of people from the face of the planet. It may all sound unreal but this is actually happening and for a lot of people, depression and boredom will make these 21 days very unbearable. I was going through an in class test we did at school and there was a comment from the lecturer that said "There is room for improvement". Like any sensible student i ignored the comment the first time i read it but it actually makes a lot of sense to me now that i am locked up in my house for the next 3 or so weeks. There is plenty of room for improvement now and i will have no excuse for not having bettered certain aspects of my life. My plan for the isolation is pretty simple and perhaps it will yield the same results for you as it will for me :
- Develop a group of strong morning habits
The morning like i have always stated is the most important part of the day. It sets the tone of how your day is going to go so it is of paramount importance that you start your morning the right way. Personally i enjoy physical activity in the morning, that involves a lot of exercising and just hyping myself up for the day. At this time i have a longer "morning period" because i don't have any school so i will add in a few activities such as read a chapter from a book, meditate or just enjoy the sunrise.
- Take this time for self improvement
Ironically it takes 21 days to develop a new habit and you have a minimum of 21 days in isolation meaning you have more time to work on the habits that shape your life and how it goes. Take this time to improve on certain skills you have and just give yourself more time to actually work on them. Learn a new language, finally read that book you have always been wanting to read, start working on that new project you have always wanted to start...do anything that will ensure that by the time the world is open again you will be at a different level.
- Think of the long term
It may be difficult to think of what the future holds or what is going to become of us however like i always say when the times are bad we always tend to forget that they will become good and when the times are good we often forget that they will be bad....that is just how things go. Work on things that are going to prove beneficial to you in the long run after the pandemic has quieted down.
Try to stay as active and happy as possible for this actually gives the immune system a boost. Try and eat as healthy as possible, exercise more, practice hygiene and by all means stay at home. Have a blessed week and use this time to bond with the people you are locked down with and just have a good time. Stay safe and Thank God its Monday.
You always deliver. Thank you
