Find strength in weakness

" There are certain emotions that will kill your drive; frustration and confusion.  You can change these to a positive force.  Frustration means you are on the verge of a breakthrough.  Confusion can mean you are about to learn something.  Expect the breakthrough and expect to learn" ~  Kathleen Spike. There is a very interesting concept in business studies called Emotional Intelligence which according to the oxford dictionary is  the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one's emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically. In simpler terms I understand it as being able to control your emotions in every situation .  I have an older member from church who would always tell me I needed to apply emotional intelligence in all aspects of my life. He always told me that basing a decision on emotions is very dangerous because it always leads to regret afterwards due to the simple fact that feelings change so making a decision ba

The horse is made ready for the day of battle

" The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD " ~ King Solomon(Proverbs 21 vs 31).This is a verse I got from my little brother during one of our family devotions and it really got me thinking. In ancient times the horse was considered one of the finest beasts man could ever own and use for his/her personal use. Before it was used for agricultural purposes it was mostly used for transportation and for war as the soldiers would ride atop of it into battle. The horses were readied for battle a day or 2 prior to battle so that when the day arrives they are in perfect shape and would prove to be an advantage to their owners. King Solomon however knew something that a majority of people didn't know, that we may have the finest horses but victory rests or lies with the Lord. This to me means that before there is even a victory the horses need to be made ready for the battle and this allows the victory to rest with the Lord because we wo

Hard work betrays none

"Perseverance is the hard work you do after getting tired of the hard work you already did" ~ Newt Gingrich. I feel like this week's blog is a note to myself because I can connect with it at a very high level. There are times where it felt like I was working really really hard in everything but nothing was coming from it, then a few months or at times a few years later i see the results of all the effort I had been putting in. My very first web design client came saw a flyer that i had designed a year and a half back for a friend from church. I had done that and many other works for free so he got my number and asked how much i charged for graphic and web designing of which at that time i had been doing free works so i had no idea how to charge so I just told him we will discuss after the job. Surprisingly he was so impressed with what I had done that he paid me more than I had even imagined. That is when it actually dawned that all the free work I had been doing was n

Live a imitless life

It is not the absence of fear that make us great, rather it is our ability to act in spite of the fear that makes us great. Lately it has been a challenge to feel anything other than fear itself and with the way the world is going it would be understandable. It seems like everyday there are new things coming to light with many theories arising, laws being passed and people dying in their thousands. It would be normal to feel anxious not only about the "post isolation" period but also getting your life back on track because 3 weeks is a very long time. For others this is a time to relax and take the pressures of life off their shoulders and for others it is a time for self reflection and getting back to the basics that make up who they are. It would be a waste for you to remain the same after such a period which has challenged people's morality, discipline, faith and mental strength. This would be a time to prepare yourself mentally for the coming period so that you
